Vāstu Śānti is performed to propitiate the benevolent deities of the dwelling and to ward off malignant influence. It goes with Gṛha Praveśa — entrance into a house — which is the rite on actually moving in.
This is among the ceremonies I am asked for most in Bengaluru, and one where a vastu consultation beforehand usually changes what is needed.
